Support our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Many of our members have lost loved ones to Alzheimers in the last 10 years..   Although we have lost, we can channel the memories of our family member to Alzheimer’s research.  The Members of Gwinnett County Retired Educators Association believe in the Walk.  We believe in contributing to this Humanitarian effort.

READ ACROSS GWINNETT

In honor of Dr. Seuss'        birthday on March 2nd      every year, schools participate in Read Across Gwinnett as part of the National Read Across America.

The day is devoted to reading with guest readers visiting classrooms to read books to students and encourage reading.

Schools are very appreciative of being contacted in advance by volunteer  readers. You can select a school close to where you live or contact the program coordinator if you are interested in participating.  He/she will help you find a class to which you can read.

Gwinnett Children's Shelter

Gwinnett Children’s Shelter is a nonprofit, 50-C3 Corporation and a residential care facility which provides services for homeless children from 0 – 17 years of age along with their mothers.  The shelter provides care and services for homeless girls aging out of the foster care system at 18 years of age.  They also provide customized “Life Plans” that are designed around the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the residents, while helping the young moms get a plan of action to get back on their feet.  GCREA contributes money and donates items from the Shelter’s wish list once a year in December.
