GCREA Goals for 2011-2012

·       Continue to participate in and support the Gwinnett Children's Shelter, Read Across America, Hands Are Not for Hitting, and the Ronald McDonald House collection of soda and soup can tabs.

·       Increase membership by 60 or more new members by the end of June, 2012.

·       Work to increase the number of non-lifetime or ADD members to maintain their membership from year to year.

·       Promote awareness among members of legislation and organizational policies that affect retirees.

·       Continue to contact members prior to each of our luncheon meetings in order to increase attendance.

·       Increase auction proceeds from the previous year.

·       Maintain the Scholarship Awards at two teachers and one student each year.

·       Support activities of the GREA Foundation, GREA Museum, and Archives and History Committee.

·       Show leadership in the community through participation in civic organizations, volunteerism, and mentoring in schools.

2011‑2012 Calendar

A busy year is beginning for GCREA Members. Be sure to mark your calendars and make plans to attend luncheons and to support the efforts of our organization. The luncheons are held on the third Friday of September, November, February, March, April, and May. The December Luncheon is held earlier in the month.

In October, Gwinnett County will again sponsor a Retirees Luncheon. Also, puppet shows will begin in October.

In November, we will have our annual Auction to raise money for the organization, and especially for our scholarships. Begin now to collect or make items for the Auction, and invite friends to attend the Auction. It is a lot of fun!

You'll want to keep a record of your community service hours all year with separate notations of service With Our Youth.

In March, plan to read in a school on Dr Seuss' birthday.
