6th President

1982-1984

I served as the sixth president of the Gwinnett County Retired Teachers Association in 1982 -1984. Harvey Davis was my vice-president, Virginia Wilder was secretary, and Sara McCutchen served as treasurer.

It was a challenging change after being a principal, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I had a cooperative group helping me. In addition to the officers, Don Herndon was especially helpful. Harvey arranged some interesting and inspiring programs. We had a good couple of years and all the time, Don was there lending a helping hand.

I remember the last meeting in May, 1984, we went to Pine Isle on Lake Lanier for our meeting. We were grateful to Loretta Roberts for arranging it for us. Rev. Don Clapp entertained us. He provided beautiful music and inspiring stories. He did this while we ate, and afterwards he gave a concert for us.
