LOIS LANE ALLEN
22nd President
2003 2004
In 2003 2004 the Gwinnett County Retired Educators Association officers were President
Lois Allen, President Elect Dr. Beverly Dryden, Secretary Linda McQuaig, Treasurer Mary Ellen Smith, Past President
Ralph Greene.
Mary Long, 2003 2004 President of Georgia Retired Educators Association, chose
the theme "Educators Light up the World" so in GCREA we chose to "Turn on the Lights!"'
We met at Hamilton Mill Restaurant for our monthly luncheon meetings and Carmen
Martin and Carole Martin created decorations and inspirations to promote our fellowship, support and service goals. Throughout
the year we used Signal Lights, Blue Lights, Holiday Lights, Reading Lights, Spotlights and Lamp Lights.
Ralph Greene with "Hands Are Not for Hitting" and Rosa Fite as Community Service
Chairman provided the leadership which led to GCREA receiving the National AARP "With Our Youth" award.
Due to the work of President elect, Beverly Dryden, and Treasurer, Mary E. Smith,
GCREA obtained non profit status.
During the year a committee including past presidents of GCREA studied the GCREA
operating and income expense budget and developed a long range financial plan which was adopted by the GCREA membership.
Because of the work of so many involved in the activities of GCREA, Gwinnett Retired
Educators turned on a light and let it shine. Together we continued to light up the world.
