BARNEY DAVIS
9th President
1988-1990
I was the ninth president of the Gwinnett County Retired
Teachers Association in 1988-1990. I have many good memories of my presidency. I especially enjoyed the two State Conventions
I attended. It was inspiring to see so many dedicated, energetic retired people working together to improve education and
welfare of retired teachers.
I am indebted to so many people who helped to make
my term in office successful. I appreciate the informative and delightful programs that Avery Graves, the vice-president,
planned for us. Martha Buice functioned beautifully as secretary, even though she had physical problems along with T. Carls
illness and death. Sara McCutchen served her seventh and eighth year as treasurer in her efficient manner--never complaining.
I give a special word of thanks to Katie Herndon for
substituting as secretary when Martha Buice was absent. Her friendly, cooperative manner inspired all of us.
I recall our auction... we all had so much fun, but
I wonder if we enjoyed it as much as Dora Gunter and Maude Padgett!! I especially enjoyed the Installation Service given by
Dorothy Pearson.
